I'm using CDA 5.2d and when I try to burn a CD with CD Text, I get:

Philips website states:
Philips DVD+-RW DVD8701
This Philips drive is a special customized product and is sold only as part of a computer system (OEM). For support for this product, please contact your PC manufacturer.

On the specs page http://support.us.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/P90576/en/specs.htm there's no mention this drive supports CD Text, so I assume that is your problem.

What does it take for a burner to support CD Text? It's just extra data bytes stored on the writable part of the disc, like any other data that one would normally burn. I can understand a player not reading CD Text when it's in AudioCD mode, but i can't see how a burner could possibly *not* support burning it.

Yeah, I just found the same page. Damn...

Guess this is just one more reason I need a new puter! :)

Are there any recommended drives for CD Text capabilities? I'd also like to find something that can burn dual layer DVDs.

Any suggestions?

Anything Sony will do what you want.
Keep in mind that many other hardware brands and software do not read CD Text.

It takes a chipset that supports it, and firmware implemented that supports it.

Read up about CDs and CD-ROMs and you will see that there is one hell of a lot goping on there - not just like ga groove on an LP.

Wiki entry on 'compact disc' touches on it.

I've got a new Creation Station coming from sweetwater.com - should be here on Wed.

I got the model number of the CD/DVD drive and contacted the manufacturer (LiteOn) and they told me that this particular model will read/write CD Text and write dual layer DVDs.
