The scroll line in the track view is out of sync with the audio... Acid is correctly playing audio that is placed in the track view, however the scrolling line is out of sync. Within 3 or 4 measures, the scroll line is off by a full measure, and it just gets worse as it goes on. Ideas??? |

Hello, Try adjusting your buffer in options, and make sure your not using any time altering effects. |

Thanks for these thoughts - but not in the ballpark with my problem. Changing buffer makes no difference, and no effects are being used. This problem occurs with a single, or dozens of wav files being placed/placed in the track view. My system: dual 500's, 392Mb ram. Watching task manager while this occurs indicates NO resource problems (total usage over 3-5% CPU) PROBLEM AGAIN: Cursor will jump ahead, behind, just plain stop, while the audio plays perfectly. Its the cursor that goes, actually IS, nuts ALL THE TIME. The "measure and beat at cursor" indicator at the top left of the track view displays the erratic time just as the cursors jumps all over. Interestingly - the "time at cursor" indicator in the same area seems to be CORRECT. IDEAS? thanks... |

I am using Acid version 2.0d I should say that while technically, acid does correctly play what is in the track window, with the cursor sometimes lagging behind and other times jumping ahead of the music, it is pretty much impossible to use. Drives you nuts. Again - everything is fine in sonic foundry 4.5 and 5, everything in Acid appears to work EXCEPT for the cursor in the track view and the "Measure and beat at cursor" indicator near the top left of the track view. thanks - tim |

Try this... - Go to the audio page in Preferences. - Click the advanced button - Find the Playback: that corresponds to the output you are playing from. - Select it, and check (or uncheck if checked) the "Interpolate position (for inaccurate devices") Q: Is is checked or unchecked for your SB card? Peter thanks for your attention. It was unchecked for both Creative SOund Blaster PCI and Microdoft Sound Mapper. I tried the different combinations of checking this option or both playback devices and none of the various combination helped. Tim |

Something is seriously wrong then. This should never happen - even when the options are checked or unchecked. I have no repro, but I don't have the exact audio hardware you have. Have you tried a reinstalled Of ACID? Has this always happened? Peter |

try this one: Click "Start --->Settings--->Control Panel. Open Display--->Settings--->Advanced. Click Performance and Slide "Hardware Acceleration" 1 step backward. This simple change usually cures a lot of frozen screen problem related to Video card and mouse. |

atedee, Thanks for the thoughts - Since Acid simply won't work for me in it's current state, I was willing to try the suggestion, but it didn't help a bit. Clarification - (If you go through the thread I think you'll perhaps better understand the problem) I am having NO problems with frozen screens, redraws or any other behavior. The problem is the cursor is completly out of sync with the playback. It redraws and scrolls, but a few measures ahead or behind the music, and then it jumps a few measures ahead or behind again... |

This was happening 2 weeks ago, I moved to a new harddrive with a COMLETE format/reinstall of Win2K and went on to install Acid. Problem occured right away with virtually no other software installed. I guess this would count as a reinstall of Acid :-) Regarding the hardware. I am using the PCI128 at the moment, but am researching "real" digital recording hardware. I'd buy the event ezbus if it were available today. Otherwise I'm still shopping for hardware. It seems that hardware would have nothing to do with this problem and EVERYTHING works fine in Acid, and sonic foundry except for this ONE thing. But what do I know :-) I upgraded to Acid 3.0 with the "buy Acid 2 and get Acid 3 free when it ships". Perhaps this will help? Could you expidite my order? Tim |

Hello, There was a guy in here that had similar problems, and nothing anybody suggested seemed to work, then He dicovered that the problem came from Acid 2, and reinstalling Acid 2 clean after removing any folders left after uninstall then doing a clean reinstall fixed the problem. So give it a try. See ya |

thanks rockitglider... but no - I've reformated the harddrive and reinstalled Win2K and then installed acid 2 over the new win2K install (with virtually nothing else on the machine) and the same thing... HOWEVER - there is hope. I just downloaded and installed acid 3.0 demo, and it works fine. Switch back to 2 and the problem is there. Back to 3 and it works... I've ordered Acid 3 through the upgrade plan, I just hope it doesn't cause some other problem. Thanks for your constructive thoughts. Tim |

Peter I downloaded the acid 3 demo and it works fine. Switch back to 2 and it doesn't work. Strange, but true... Can I get someone there to expidite my upgrade order to Acid 3.0? I mailed it in about 10 days ago. Thanks - Tim |
