Subject:How to Add Intro to .midi File

Hi, this is my first post and I just got Music Studio yesterday. I have several .midi files that I'm trying to modify in some way or another. A couple of them start the music right at the beginning and I would like to change it so that there is a one or two measure intro just containing the beat (tempo) using a snare drum or a cymbal. Anyone know the easiest way to add this to the beginning of an existing .midi file?

Perhaps you could insert another midi or audio track and create and/or add a your beat (midi or loop or one-shot) as a lead-in which transitions to your original existing midi file.

As raskie mentioned, you could add your own MIDI (or digital audio) file so that it segues into the original MIDI. (You'd have to create a new digital audio track when using digital audio though.)

You can also enable inline MIDI editing (G is the keyboard shortcut), right-click inside the MIDI clip/event and choose "Select All in Event." then click and drag the events to the right as far as you want (be sure not to go up or down when dragging). You should then be able to build the part you want within this clip/event.

I created a new project and added one of the "Snare One Shots" to the project. I added it four times to get one measure of the loop. The song is in 4/4 time. The only problem is that it's not on the project at 4 even shot in one measure but the snare is played 4 times with a little more time to spare at the end. Can I use Beatmapper to correct this, and if so, how?

Try this:

Choose the Paint Tool and click the little drop-down arrow to the immediate right; choose a desired grid resolution. Do the same for the Snapping button to the left (by choosing the same grid resolution). Paint away.

Note this will paint the event all the way up to the set grid resolution even if the audio ends early or late. (You may get clicking/glitching due to the audio ending too early, for example.) If you need/want to paint an event in its entirety without extra space, hold down Ctrl while painting.
