Subject:CD R not recognized

I am unable to have Sound Forge 5 recognize the presence of a CD R drive.
(Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop, OS Win 2k, Sony 1600 external CD R w/Firewire).
I have read the previous threads regarding the Intel 815 chipset and ATA issues.
I have downloaded the most recent driver, and I am still unable to have SF 5 recognize
the CDR drive. However, if I use Sony's CD burning software that came with the CD R drive, the Sony program does recognize
the drive.

You might try contacting SF support. They may not see your post here.
