Subject:Editing more than one track at once

I have the following problem. Currently recording bass overdubs and I am using 2 channels - one is DI and the second one if effected feed. So in other software selecting the two tracks and doing fades works without an issue, here as soon as I try to move a fade on one of the tracks the other one is no longer highlighted.

I'd like to be able to do edit both tracks at the same time as the time edits and everything else happens at the same time and they'd be mixed in through the same signal bus. Any ideas how I can edit both at the same time?

The first thing that comes to mind is to assign them to a bus track and use the envelope features for that track.

Select both tracks using the usual windows paradigm of CTRL-Click for selecting multiple items . Or for a contiguous range of tracks, click the first then SHIFT-Click the last.

Any track header control changes will be applied to all the selected tracks, as will event splits, drags, etc.

I would half to agree with Mr.Wood...... that mutli-select thing.

That's one of the joys of the Sony Suite - everything (?) is so obvious and straightforward - sometimes too obvious for people looking for something akin to the relatively obscure and complex procedures favoured in the apps of our teutonic cousins ;-)

I tried Geoff's suggestions and that didn't work.

OK, maybe I didn't make myself clear so I'll go in more detail.

The current project I am working is doing bass overdubs that I export to another application. I am supplied with stems from the original project that I add my parts to, so I import the stems to say:
Track1, Track2, Track3. That works fine. Then I plug in the bass via 2 inputs - one is DI and the other one is a preamp. They are assigned different channels and different tracks.

So Bass DI becomes Track5 and BassPre becomes Track6. They are the same performance, the DI is a safety take for reamping later if needed on the other end by the producer in case they don't like my pre sound.

So I do some punch ins over mistakes on the same track line and they are rendered as new clips, so my punch-ins add another clip of audio on Track5 and Track6, and want to edit the punch-ins to blend in with the underlying clips so that they are seamless. I want do both edits on these tracks on the exact same spots but by being unable to select and drag both together that is not working out.

By doing Ctrl+Left click I get to select both tracks and they show as highlighted and as soon as I start dragging focus shifts to one of the tracks and the other one becomes deselected. The teutons seem to have solved that problem so I am thinking that I must be overlooking something small, maybe a setting in the Options bar?

Instead of using two tracks, route the two signals to the left and right channels of a single stereo track.

So then when the producer on the other end gets the tracks he'd have to split them and separate them into two separate entities?
I don't think that's really a solution as far as I am concerned.
It seems like this feature is overlooked and it is a huge biggie as far as I am concerned.

If your customer doesn't like the audio presented as dual mono in a stereo file then just split it into two mono files before you send it to him.

If I follow your workflow description, you want to 'group' events for editing.

ACID does not provide this workflow.

You should submit a feature requests using this web site's "Product Suggestion" form on the "Support" menu item above.

Will do. I am completely baffled that this feature is missing and this product is still sold as a DAW. This is murder when you have to do major drum editing, say 14 tracks of drums :(
