Hi, Im using a Tascam 424 recorder, then sending the signal to the sound card to record in Sound Forge 5.0. I lay down all 4 tracks as individual .wav files, then modify them with whatever effects sound good. But when I try to mix them back togeather, its WAY off. Even if I zoom into the first line of the first sound wave and match them up, 2 minutes down the line, the tracks are all at least a half second off. Any suggestions? Do certin effects like reverb stretch the sound file in any way? Cause I would think that if it sound matched up in the beginning, but off later on, the length if being changed. Thanks in advance!

you are using a pretty crude method for syncing the tracks, but hey whatever works.
some of the effects could be time based and are stretching to total time. that's all i can think of.
or perhaps you are making edits that seem small but change the time line.
seems that the tascam is an analog tape machine, try syncing them before making changes to see if dumping them into sound forge alters their alignment.

To retain sync in Audio or Sound for video you need to use some form of time code to lock each track in time for the dub to SF then back to tape. You are using what is known as a wild machine, and every time you copy a track from it, it will run a different time.

The reverb effect uses a pre-delay setting. If you are using this, there is typically a few ms of extra sound at the beginning. This could throw off your sync.
