Subject:ACID and SF XP Help files don't work

I can't seem to get the Help (from the menu) to come up in either product. I have reinstalled, with no results. I have also been in contact with Nate from tech support, but haven't had any fix.

Has anyone had this problem? Fixed it?

Find these folders on your hard drive:

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-ins\Help Files

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Help Files

Right click on the folder, select properties, and then click advanced. Now look for the check box that says "For fast servicing, allow Index Servicing to index this folder" and place a check in the box. This will fix the problem.

Ted:
Thanks...but I have 2 issues.
#1--I can't find this folder: C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-ins\Help Files

(the other one I have - C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Help Files)

#2--I do not have the Advanced option, only General and Sharing. I am using Win 98 SE.

(Right click on the folder, select properties, and then click advanced. Now look for the check box that
says "For fast servicing, allow Index Servicing to index this folder" and place a check in the box. This will
fix the problem.)

Vince--

Apologies for the problems you're having. I guess the Help files won't do you any good if you can't get to them. :)

I'll be sending you a registry patch (.reg file) by e-mail that should tell ACID and Forge where to look for their Help files.

To help us reproduce the problem, could you please reply to the following?

(1) Did you have any other Foundry apps installed before ACID 3 and Sound Forge XP Studio 5?

(2) How did you install? From a CD or from downloaded versions?

(3) In what order did you install the apps?

Thank you, and I apologize for any inconvenience,
Kevin

Okay, I wasn't sure if you were using Windows 2000 or not. In case Kevin's reg file does not do the trick, you should be able to fix this by going to:

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup

In the Acid 3.0 folder, find Acid.cab and open it. Look for Acid.hlp and Acid.chm and move them into:

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Help Files

In the Sound Forge XP Studio 5 folder (also in C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup) find Forge.cab and open it. Find Forge.chm and Forge.hlp and place these into the "Help Files" folder also. This will fix the problem in Windows 98.
