I just bought a Ketron SD2 for MIDI sounds. It works fine but I have no idea how to change instruments in Acid. There are patches for Sonar, Cubase and Logic but not Acid. I did a search here and I saw a post that says Acid treats hardware MIDI the same as a soft synth. Not sure where to go from there. I found a very kludgy way to do it. I open another DAW (RealBand, comes with Band in a Box), select an instrument, and exit. That instrument will be in Acid and record fine. Don't ask how I figured that out. But a better workflow would be nice, if anyone can help or point me to a helpful link. I like Acid, don't really want to use or learn another DAW.

I also now realize that hardware MIDI won't render like VST. I need to send it to Acid as audio, I assume. Line in didn't work, I have a hi-z jack, maybe that? Maybe someone with a Roland module would know. As always, thanks much.

Bob (I use Acid Music Studio 6)

The only workflow possible is to connect MIDI Out to your synth, and the synth audio output(s) to your soundcard Line In(s). Make sure you have the correct audio device selected. H-Z should not make a difference.

Thanks, Geoff, I learned today that the hardware is the problem. Not the answer I was hoping for, but at least I know. Thanks again.
