I run Sony Acid Pro 7 (as 32 bit) on Windows 7 64bit. I have IK Multimedia's Amplitube series of VST plugins. I can bring up Amplitube as a VST, or Soft Synth, and use them as standalone plugins, but it does not appear in the effects folder, when I add an audio track to my project. This is bugging me, as I want to record guitar using Amplitube on Acid Pro 7. Also, Sony Acid Pro 7 can not locate Ethno 2 as a plugin! Or I can't ! I've tried scanning all VST and other folders. Can anyone help me out please? Other than that, I love Sony Acid Pro 7! |

I'm not sure how AmpliTube works since I don't have it (and IK has no easy way of downloading a manual off their site). I'm assuming it can act as both a soft synth and a VST effects plug-in but I'm just not sure. You tried adding FX at the track level, correct? Iacobus |

Hey thanks for your reply MD Amplitube is just a normal VST plugin. It's a virtual set of guitar amps and more. I can use it as standalone. It also appears in my VST/soft synth folder. However, If I have an audio track and I want to play my guitar through Amplitube then I need to bring it up as an effect, which one usually does by clicking on the little green effects icon in the track view. Problem is Amplitube is not in the effects folder (where effects like Sony Express Reverb, Sony Compression etc are). So I can't play my guitar through it, like an effect. There's no point bringing Amplitube up as a soft synth in a midi track, as I can't use my guitar this way. It has to be an audio track! lacobus, you're right in saying it can be used as a soft synth and a VST effects plugin. But it does not appear in the effetcs plugin list on the track view. Is there a way of playing my guitar through it without using it as an effects plugin? Thanks lacobus (MD) |

I had the same problem with Amplitube 2 and Sampletank. I found this fix from someone and it worked ! 1. Launch your DAW by right clicking its icon and select "Run as administrator". 2. Rescan your VST folder for new plugins. Amplitube gets loaded and the above mentioned file is created. You should be able to use the VST. 3. Quit your DAW. 4. Go to c:\Windows with file explorer. 5. Find the file "msocreg32.dat", right click it and select properties from the context menu. 6. Go to the security tab 7. Click "Edit". A UAC box will appear to ask you for permission and allow it. 8. Select the "Users" group. 9. Set a checkmark next to "Modify" in the lower list. 10. Click twice on "OK" to close both dialogs. 11. Launch your DAW as you normally would. |

Also, Amplitube can be used as an effect on an audio track (once Amplitube's vst is recognized). |

Thanks Krushem All my settings are already like that. The problem is this: Amplitube (and all the IK Multimedia VST's) are visible in my plugin manager window...but not in the audio track effects window! WHY? |

here's the AHA!! moment... i use amplitube also and something i realized a while back was that if you can see a plugin in the manager then you can drag/drop it to the audio track where the green icon is. hope that helps. |

FINALLY! Someone who uses amplitube with Acid Pro! OK, so I tried that. I could not drag/drop the plugin into the green icon on the audio track. I could drag the plugin underneath the audio track, which then created a separate midi track. Please help some more! |

it created a midi track? thats strange. are you sure its a midi track? create a new audio track and drag/drop and see what happens. also try this: i sometimes route multiple track to a bus with an amplitube setting on the bus. have you tried to drag/drop to the master or a bus? I did create an audio track and tried to drag/drop the plugin into the audio track, and also the green effects icon, but it just won't work. It creates a midi track (separate track) underneath the audio track if I drag the plugin there. I really need to get this right! All I want to do is record my guitar using amplitube into an audio track in Sony Acid Pro 7. Can you think of anything else whitestonestudios? |

amplitube isnt really midi related. makes no sense for it to create a midi track. i know youre using win7 (i use xp). maybe your amplitube install is corrupt. have you contacted ik? most importantly can you use it standalone?!! |

Yep I can use it standalone. It's fine. I just can't use it in an audio track. What really puzzles me, is that amplitube is in my plugin manager window, but not in the effects window in the audio track, when I click on the green affects icon! Oh man! There must be a solution! |

did ik have any special conditions regarding win7 installs? have you tried to drag to the master or a bus? Message last edited on6/24/2010 6:01:39 AM byKappeesh. |

Nope, they say you can use it in an audio track by selecting it in the effects window. But on my DAW it's not in the effects window, it's only in the plugin manager window! Yes I did try drag to a master and bus but still nothing. When I try drag/drop the plugin becomes a circle with a red "no entry" sign! Message last edited on6/24/2010 6:10:22 AM byCasswebb. |

my question was about installation not operation. its sounding like you may need to reinstall, pick a different folder for amplitube, etc Message last edited on6/24/2010 6:24:36 AM byKappeesh. |

I can use it as a standalone. I've tried dragging the plugin into the master and bus tracks, still nothing. No, as far as IK Multimedia is concerned, there are no special instructions with regards to the installation. |

Yep I'm sure. If I drag the plugin into the track area and drop it there, it creates a midi track. |

Is the .dll in your programs folder or your programs (x86) folder? I have 7 on my laptop and it won't read any .dll's unless they are in Program Files (x86). Just a thought! |
