Short answer? Vegas 9 on Win 7?

Has a final consensus of sorts been reached as to whether Vegas 9 (and other popular video apps maybe) operates OK in the Windows 7 environment? I got the impression that Vista had a consensus of “don’t do it.” So, I never did.

I know there will always be issues with just about any OS, but are they any glaring ones; workability with Vegas 9 and Quicktime comes to mind)?

Not sure about any hardware, been using an AMD Athlon 64 for years. Might be nice to use the 64 bit feature for once.

Just talking OS software here.

Thanks guys.

Win 7 64 Vegas 9e 64 and 32 = No problem (Intel)
No problem with the very limited QT that I have worked with, (I try to avoid it).

Using Win 7 64 Professional with Vegas Pro 9 64 with no problems. Interesting to watch it go after all 12 processor threads and even sometimes 11gb or memory.

One more "yes" for V9 and W7.

Hello James,
by all means, upgrade to Win 7 64-bit ... my time of 24 minutes running Win XP 32-bit and Vegas 8 32-bit shrunk to 1 minute and 11 seconds with Win 7 64-bit running Vegas 9 64-bit.
(rendering the test HD clip from one of the forums here)...

Make sure you also have at least 2GB per processor for the new OS...

I think you'll never look back... except in amazement... (grin)

Until that time... Earl J.

Another "Windows 7 64 and Vegas 9e" works fine for me.

Vegas Pro 9e 64 works well in Windows 7 64 bit. BUT some 32 bit plug-ins and scripts may not work in VP9e 64bit so I've also loaded VP9e 32bit for these which runs fine in Windows 7 64bit.

If you decide to load VP9 32 bit, be sure to load it first because the last Vegas version you load may become the default when you launch Vegas from .veg files.
