Subject:Windows 7 VST plugin issue

I took the plunge and built a new DAW with Windows 7 (64-bit). I am getting all my programs installed and that is going well but I am having a VST plugin issue with Sound Forge. I put the plugin's in the Program Files (x86)\VSTplugins which is where SF looks for them. However, when I run the program it does not see the plugins (like it does on my old Win XP box).

I searched the help but couldn't seem to find anything (other than the obvious). Does anyone know what to do?

Thanks.

Mike

Possibly the "Prog Files' is for the wrong user ? I haven't quite got a handle on the user account/path scenario for 7 yet.

Try creating a VSTPlugins folder in the disk root to see if there is something messing up the actual recognition of VSTs. Then maybe navigate to you current VST folder and copy/paste the whole path into the(a) SF VST file locations path, to be sure you've go the right one exactly right.

geoff.

I know that SF finds the plugin's because it prompted me to register one of them that wasn't registered yet. It also shows them in the Organiize Favorites dialog. However, it just doesn't show them in the dropdown menu.

In Win XP, SF groups them by the company abbrev or mnuemonic. That's the behavior I want in Win 7.

Hi Folks,

I really need to get a resolution to this issue. Surely, I am not the only one who has moved to Win 7 64-bit OS.

Thanks in advance.

SF groups the pugins the same no matter what OS. They are as you would expect in my W7u64.

Did you try explicitly browsing to the actual plugin location in Preferences|VST Plugins ? (not buried in some default user-related docs folder).

Short of de/re-insatlling, I can think of anything else you can do. Sorry. Have you offically logged the fault with tech support ?

geoff

Don't forget, there are plug-ins which are not going to work in the 64-bit environment.

For convenience create folder C:\Program Files (x86) - Vstplugins and establish all plugins there.

If Fordge itself has not seen plugins help it specifying a way
