I just bought Sound Forge 5.0 from Mars's web site for $199 but I was looking through some of the posting here and read about a $99 download. Is this true? Also, the main reason I bought it was because I thought I could use it for red book mastering and I've also read some posting denying it's ability to do this. Can someone please clarity. I was going to go with T-RackS originally but the price drop to $199 change my mind. Did I make a mistake? |

First, you can no longer get SF for $99. Second, the CD burning tool in SF5.0 does not burn red-book CD-R's. It utilizes the Track-at-once method. |

I Bought SF 5.0 4 days ago. I returned it and got Wavelab instead. This is why: NO real control of fading or envelopes in the FX. (if you wanted to apply FX to a Whole mixdown master track, why not use a propper outboard gear?) NO real control of crossfading (the paste special is a joke) NO CD Red Book mastering = T O Y On the posotive side: SF has a very good collection of FX that I miss in Wavelab, but do you need an FX box or a Mastering tool? I will leave this forum soon... Good luck with SF! Ant. |

For CDs, I use SF 4.5 and CD Architect. |

I use SF 5.0 to edit, CDRWin to burn CD-R's. Check out www.goldenhawk.com. Very reasonable, and it works ! Regards, Rick Z |
