Here's a question I'm betting you've been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer so here goes again: If there are 2 sets of notes in a track (example: kick and snare drums) is there a way to split them out onto seperate tracks so I have one track with kick and another with snare? thanks, Curt |

Is it an AUDIO file? or a MIDI file? |

When dealing with digital audio, the best you can do is *try* and isolate the frequency a specific instrument/part is occupying but most of the time they spill over into each other's frequency ranges. This would be like trying to get an egg that's been beaten into a cake mix. Iacobus |

Understandable. However, Acid allows you to edit /erase vertically, meaning change or delete portions of events, from one point in time on a bar to another. Can this be done horizontally? |

You can pretty much erase portions of events that are already drawn/painted onto the timeline, yes. For example, if you had one track that had just a snare sound and another track that had a kick, you could simply erase parts of the snare track, leaving the kick track to playback by itself at points. Remember that digital audio is a different beast when compared to MIDI. MIDI is just a set of instructions whereas digital audio is the actual audio. You're free to move around MIDI data in a particular track but if you want to "move" the data around with a digital audio file you'll have to do it creatively (like erasing parts that are already drawn; using the Chopper to rearrange, etc.). |
