Problems recording acoustic/electric guitar Acid 7 -ACID Product Family

Subject:Problems recording acoustic/electric guitar Acid 7 Posted by: tHeMarriedGuy Date:5/28/2010 6:34:49 PM I've been trying to record my acoustic/electric guitar through Acid Music Studio 7 and have been having problems getting it to record with a clean sound (it always comes out fairly distorted). I'm using a 1/4 inch Alesis USB Guitar Link cable connected directly via USB port. When I've had the computer's speakers act as essentially a monitor for the guitar (so I can listen to the sound through the speakers/headphones), the sound comes out perfectly clean and sounds exactly how it's supposed to, but when I record something and play it back, the sound always comes out distorted. Here's what I've tried doing to make it work: 1. Arm the track for recording--this seemed to work once, but every time after that it came out distorted again and I haven't been able to get it back to a clean sound. 2. Turned off all Track FX or left the default ACID FX on--neither fixed the problem. 3. Changed the key--first from the default A to G (which is what I was playing in) and then to None--still no change. 4. Used the "Show Me How" feature for recording tracks and followed the steps, one after another--still no fix. Here's all the software/hardware specs (if I need more, let me know): Windows 7 32-bit Acid Music Studio 7.0a Hardware: SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec Alesis GuitarLink AudioLink Series 1/4-inch-to-USB Cable Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. Subject:RE: Problems recording acoustic/electric guitar Acid 7 Reply by: Iacobus Date:5/29/2010 11:05:11 AM Might want to try and isolate the USB port the GuitarLink is on (in other words, unplug anything else that might be sharing the same USB controller the GuitarLink is on). Other than that, there's not much else I can think of as USB is a bit unreliable when it comes to digital audio. Maybe try other sample rates (like 44.1 kHz). Iacobus
