Subject:Quantize WHILE recording?

Is this possible? I do a lot of hip-hop, so drums are obviously important. What I would like is to be able to trigger my sounds and step record, and while recording, when I hit my snare on 2 & 4, to have it lined up on 2 & 4, even if I'm just a little off. (Basically exactly like what the MPC does). I'm looking at the options, and I use quantize a lot AFTER I record, but I was just curious if it was possible to do it WHILE recording?

Thanks!

lol... I swear... everytime I ask a question, I end up finding the answer. I found "Set up a MIDI quantize input filter" in the help section. This is exactly what I am looking for. Sweet...

That's fantastic! I was wondering about that as well and you have helped.

Thanks.

Glad I could help! It is working as expected. The *only* think I wish I could do when recording in a loop, is to NOT insert another midi note if I already have a midi note in that position. The alternative is to not use the MIDI merge, but then you lose what you did previously when it repeats the loop segment. Other than that, this is working perfectly. Now I can bang on my AKAI MPD16 and have it line up in Acid, even if I'm off a little. Now this is getting fun again!

Makes it a bit tricky if you later decide that a bit of feel sounded good and you wanted it after all !

geoff

lol... yeah, sometimes you want that "off" feeling. There is a swing parameter as well as a "strength" param, so you can do a "hard" quantize or just a "soft" one. I'm just glad the option is there.
