Subject:timer is unstable?

I've tried using my system timer or card timer and both have this problem where during playback if I add or change anything in the timeline the pitch and tempo are sliding up and down randomly. Stop and restart and the pitch and tempo are still changed, not in the dialogs, just in the sound of playback. It's not a small shift, it slides way the hell up in pitch and tempo and I don't know why!

Suggestions?>

It soumds like this is most likely related to your sound card. Try updating the drivers for it from the manufacturer's website and that may fix the problem.
