Subject:Preset Recall Issue

All,

I am having an issue with saving presets and opening them back up. For certain FX, I can change the name, save it, but cannot recall the preset. I am allowed to select the preset but the parameters are not recalled.

The same preset recalls the proper parameters in Sound Forge.

I can save a preset in Sound Forge which will work in Sound Forge but has the same issue as above in Acid.

Here's my latest response to Tech Support after going back and forth for a week now. I have attempted to explain the issue several times. After a solid week, I am asked to outline my workflow step by step. i have exported the preset and forwarded it to them but I cannot get confirmation as to whether or not they have tried it.

<begin response to Eric D.>

Eric,

My work flow is as follows.

1) Open Acid Pro v7 or Sound Forge v10.
2) Add an audio track (Acid) or open a wave file (Sound Forge).
3) Add a track effect (Acid) or select an effect (Sound Forge) - Opcode Fusion Filter (DX) or Antares Filter (DX).
4) Change some parameters.
5) Change the preset name.
6) Save the preset.
7) Close Acid or Sound Forge.
8) Open Acid Pro v7.
9) In a new project, add an audio track.
10) For that audio track, add a track effect Opcode Fusion Filter (DX) or Antares Filter (DX) (whichever you chose previously).
11) Select the preset saved in Sound Forge.
12) Notice that the preset parameters were not recalled.
13) Contact Sony and go back and forth with Eric for a week with zero progress.

That's the work flow. The preset will work in Sound Forge.

Can you confirm whether or not you were able to import the attached preset and use it in Acid?

Please allow someone else to review this case.

<end response>

TeeCee,

sorry aboot you feeling super frustrated...

test the plug-in, maybe the fault is there...

1) open acid pro 7
2) create an audio track
3) add a sony track effect (sony wave hammer, for example)
4) change the parameters of the effect
5) save the effect
6) close acid pro 7
7) open acid pro 7
8) create an audio track
9) add the same sony track effect from the previous experiment (sony wave hammer)
10) try to load the plug-in preset that you created from the previous experiement
11) see if the parameters are what you set them to in the previous experiment

if this experiment works, the problem is with the third party plug-in, not with acid pro 7

if this is the case, try contacting the plug-in vender about compatibility with acid pro 7 and their plug-in

hope this helps

good luck

Kawaii,

I have done that and it works with some other plugins. However, these presets work with Sound Forge, so how can you say the issue lies with the plugin vendor?

Just because Acid works with some plugins doesn't mean that there is not an isssue with Acid. I would think the proof is in the fact that Sound Forge can use these plugins but Acid cannot.

Following this up, the incident was closed with no resolution offered from Sony. The final post was made to the incident without an email update until the item was closed out.

Final response from Sony:
"Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software.

So far I have not been able to reproduce the issue you are seeing between the two applications. We are continuing to test to reproduce the issue in house, which will assist us in creating a resolution for the issue.

If you still have a follow-up question on this particular incident, please feel free to update it. If you have a completely different question, please create a new incident."

I hate that the last paragraph is always included in the response even when no solution has been offered.
