is there a fix for this crash? EDIT #1 i removed the 'winmm.dll' from the folder 'C:\WINDOWS\system32' and tried using acid acid crashed again... i noticed that the file 'winmm.dll' had reappeared in the folder 'C:\WINDOWS\system32' the version on this system is 'winmm.dll 5.1.2600.2180' i believe that this forms part of the 'windows xp service pack two (2)' update the 'winmm.dll' version '6.1.7600.16385' i believe is part of the 'windows xp service pack three (3)' update EDIT #2 i have changed the 'audio device type' in the 'preferences' section from the 'sound card' routing to the 'direct sound surround mapper' and acid has not crashed during the last few hours EDIT #3 i changed the 'winmm.dll' file from version '5.1.2600.2180' to version '6.1.7600.16385' in the windows folder 'C:\WINDOWS\system32' after this change, windows did not boot up, windows froze do not manually change the 'winmm.dll' file EDIT #4 after changing the 'audio device type' in the 'preferences' menu, from my sound card, to the 'direct sound surround mapper' seems to have worked as acid is not crashing with the 'winmm.dll' message EDIT #5 after one solid week of testing acid, i have had zero crashes while using the 'audio device type' in the 'preferences' menu, set to the 'direct sound surround mapper' this leads me to believe that the problem lies with the sound card driver and not the software, acid pro 7 i have the latest drivers for my sound card Message last edited on5/27/2010 6:29:43 AM bykawaii. |
