Hi, I have loops at 44/16, 48/16 and 44/24. Project settings are for output at 44/16. I know Acid will figure this all out when it opens the loops . The only thing I'm doing to these loops is using a tad of compression, a pinch of reverb and a dash of EQ. That's it. But I've been reading where editing this at a higher bit depth and frequency is better because it provides more dynamic headroom. OK, so is it worth a trip to Soundforge to access its iZotope MBIT sample thingy or should I just let Acid7 do it or should I even bother with this at all? TIA for any assistance. Brian |

Depends on what the end result is to be. For ultimate fidelity, do the best you can at every stage. If for MP3, then it's not worth agonising over at all. But for most purpose just carry on what you are doing. Try the same project both ways, and see if you can discern any difference. You probably won't, in a blind test. geoff |

Yes you should bother and no need to use Sound Forge or iZotope. I think you missed the point. What you read was correct "editing this at a higher bit depth and frequency is better because it provides more dynamic headroo". That means set your project to a bit depth of 24 so that all processing in ACID is done at a bit depth of 24. Then dither to 16 to deliver on CD or MP3. I do all of my audio editing at 48Khz/24bit. ~jr |
