Hello,

I work on low price software when I can, and in my opinion you can put together a good setup without spending an arm and leg. Here's how, Use Acid for creating music and Sound Forge for editing, Thats 200.00 dollars so far then if your sound card is only a stereo output card then you really don't need a 24 track mixer so you could use Cakewalk Music Creator software it's a 8 track mixer with aux sends and Direct X support so all the effects that come with Acid and Sound Forge can be used in there too, plus it comes with some effects of it's own, and you can pick that up for $39.00 to $49.00, then your're all set in the software area pretty much unless you need something else. I use Guitar tracks instead of Music Creator because I play guitar but it's basically the same software with 8 tracks for mixing. If you have a sound card capable of multiple outputs or multiple sound cards installed, then you could go to Cakewalk 9 Studio for about a Hundread dollars But Acid is not really a Mixer it's a track based loop player creator software not a multitrack mixer but it has it's important place in all this. But to buy $700.00 or $800.00 software to mix a couple of songs together you really don't have to spend alot on software, Save the money and buy good hardware like speakers and sound cards and maybe a surround sound reciever to patch your computer digitaly.

Hope this puts another view on things

See ya
