Subject:Markers are gone after I save and reopen

I record a file. I place markers during the recording. I save the file and close it. I open the file and all the markers are gone! I have tested this more than once now and this keeps happening. I have not had this problem in the past until recently. I would really like to know what to do because I need to have those markers in place to know where to break it up when I later open the file! Please help, thank you. |

Also, I'm using Sound Forge 8.0d (build 128). I have not had this problem until recently and I have no idea why this could be. Message last edited on11/11/2009 12:23:30 PM byMs. Lisa. |

FIXED! I don't know I guess I may have accidentally bumped something in the save window. All I needed to do was recheck "save metadata with file" !!! Fixed! I'm very happy. Message last edited on11/11/2009 1:08:12 PM byMs. Lisa. |

I'm using Sound Forge 10a and I just noticed that if open a file, mark it up and save it with a different filename, the markers instantly disappear. Is this a known bug or should I raise it with Tech Support? Thanks, Walt |

Are you absolutely sure you have the "Save metadata with file" check-marked in the Save/Save as prompt window. Some file types other than WAVE cannot save that metadata. To be alerted of this happenstance, check-mark the box in: Options> Preference> General> "Warn if metadata cannot be saved in the file" |

Doh! Thanks, guys. I actually didn't know markers were considered metadata. Last version of SF I had was 8.0 (before that 7.0, 5.0 and 4.5) and I never had this problem so I presume the metadata checkbox was always checked in those versions. Anyway, thanks a mill. Walt |
