Subject:Really silly copy and paste question!!!

I have just re-installed onto a new laptop (Acidpro 7) using windows 7. Now when I copy an edited event and paste into a new location I have to re-edit the event by trimming down to the right size and portion of the clip. What the heck am I missing.
Feeling stupid!!
Can you help?

Try Ctrl + dragging the edited clip? What happens?
