Hey guys, I'm a REAL amateur to producing and whatnot. I need tips on what I need to get to start a "studio" (nothing professional, just a list of products I should be looking out for to be able to create my own beats). I know one product I'll need is ACID. How about more software/hardware? If you have any tips please reply. Thanks guys.

If your going to use Acid as your main recorder, then I suggest you get a good pc (pIII at least 800mhz with 256 RAM or more) especially now that Acid 3 requires
and eats lots of cpu.
For sound card you might want to look at sound blaster platinum live! computer music magazine gave it an ultimate buy. Other gears on the list that are also important:
1.synth - you can always get some cheap modules!
2.mixer - a small Mackie will do.
3.monitors - it's very important to have good monitors.
4.burner - if your going to be making cds.
:-)

then after your done send me a copy of your cd. hehehe

later,
ginno

First of all you gotta figure out what you wanna do and how much you wanna spend of course. I run fruitloops for my beats, acid pro to clean up some wave files, soundforge to edit all wave files, and vegas audio for mixing and mastering. It would be helpful to have a mixer hooked up to an amp jus to be able to hear your sounds. High quality headphones to hear clarity, and definitly don't forget fx 1, 2, and 3 for soincfoundry. Thats all Ive been running and I have a few CD' S already but now need to market them. Gotta ascap my songs first before I attempt to make some gripp. Good luck....
