please excuse me if this question has already been answered. I just d'loaded the demo of sound forge xp studio 5.0b, was planning on using it on my MP3 files. However, when I try to open any of them, I get a message stating "the file xxx.mp3 is not a supported file format, or contains an unrecoverable error." I have tried opening numerous files, all with the same result. Does this have anything to do with the fact that it is a demo of the program? |

The Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0 demo should open standard MP3 files with no problems. Were all of these files created with the same MP3 encoding application perhaps? Feel free to email me a sample file (dougw@sonicfoundry.com) and I'll look into it. |

Same problem here and it's only if i try to open a mp3 file with a none standard id3 tag(long ASC-II text). If i remove the id3 tag i can open the files with my SF5 without a problem. |
