OT - Current market for AVCHD cameras?

A client wants to do some self-videoing whilst teaching dance.

She wants an HD cam, preferably under $1,000. It must have audio - in socket for her wireless mic, and she needs to be able to control focus, WB, aperture etc manually on occasions.

Anyone have a recommended Make / Model ?

My Sony HDR-XR500 does all that, and it's under $1000 now, if I recall.
As did my HDR-SR11 I might add.

Would also recommend that camera - it comes a nice little remote control which might be well suited for your clients self videoing.
