I have ACID Pro 7 and I recently updated it, but still all of my MIDI sound files sound the same with different tempos. My drums, ass, guitars, cymbals, etc, all sound like a piano. Any ideas or help? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you are not using them as midi files, but are listening to them via explorer?
Used with a vst you will hear them for what they are.

Sorry you have to bare with me I'm new to all of this and I am trying to research more and more to figure out what I need to do but I don't really know what I am looking for...

Yes I was just clicking them and listening in the explorer, I just researched VST-i and I understand you need them torun the midi files, but which plug ins do I use for what? I have a list of them, but are certain ones fo different instruments?

I could talk you through most things, but then you will just have twice as many new questions, that's the way of it. What you really need to do is go here...

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile.

It really depends on how the MIDI files were authored. When playing MIDI files from the ACID explorer, the Sony DLS GM soft-synth is used. If the MIDI files you are using do not have GM sound mappings, the default will always be a piano sound.

Drag the MIDI file onto the time line. This will create a track or tracks depending on the MIDI file. A default Sony GM soft-synth will be created IF you have not enabled any external MIDI ouputs.

On each track you will see a control that lets you assign the voice or patch. Choose the voice/patch that best matches what you want.

I highly recommend that you download and read the ACID Pro Users Guide. It is a great starting point.
