I don't think so. SF have never supported any driver or
plugin standards except for those that come with
Microsoft's OS (MME, DirectX => no VST).

Anyway: with the arrival of WDM drivers, ASIO will probably
not be necessary anymore, because the latency offered by
WDM audio drivers will be low enough.

The good thing about VST plugins is that you can automate
the parameters of them. This is great for things like
lowpass filters where you can automate the cutoff frequency
for sweeps and so on. I don't know much about Direct X 8,
or the Direct X instruments, but I think some type of
automation is needed for the plugins that Vegas uses. More
than just the fx sends.

Isn't Automation of PlugIn-Parameters supported since
DirectX v8 (i.e. it's basically possible, but obviously
e.g. the SF XFX-plugs don't support it yet)?

Speaking of VST: All my DirectX plugins for SoundForge are
distorted in VST. I think it is because I work in 24 bit
mode in VST and SoundForge's plugins ar 16 bit, or elese it
is becasue I chose to not install the MME drivers and only
the ASIO drivers for my MOTU interface.
