Subject:Acid Pro 7 RAM and Glitches

So I upgraded to Pro 7 recently. Just a couple of problems: 1 - Acid only recognises 2 GB of Ram and 2 - When i render audio my project becomes glitchy like it has really bad latency on all parts, rebooting acid solves this issue, but is a pain. Also annoys me that Effectrix doesnt work! I thought it was solved in version 7 coz the effectrix sequencer actually work, but it wont bounce down. This is really lame acid! I hear its a midi clock thingymajig, but seriously, even fruity loops has it covered. I'm using: Dell Vostro 1520 Intel Core 2 Duo P7570(2.26GHz,1066MHz,3MB) 4096MB (2x2048) 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel 320GB (1x320GB) Serial ATA FFS (7200RPM) 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS |

1 - Acid only recognises 2 GB of Ram ACID Pro 7 is a 32 bit Windows app. That is the standard memory limit of a 32 bit app and Vista/Win7 32 bit. There is an OS flag you can set that will increase this to ~3gb. Some have used this successfully, but we do not officially support it. Peter Message last edited on2/12/2010 10:32:03 AM bypwppch. |

Thanks Peter, All noted about the RAM issue. Its not really bothering me. The thing that is bothering me is the issue with rendering audio, or bouncing down. When ever i bounce am audio track the whole project goes out of sync. only remedied by a reboot of acid. its pretty annoying and seriously interups work flow. It never happened in 6. I have the latest updates for 7. any ideas? thanks |

hmmm, the more I use AP7 the less i like it, really hope its teething problems, but just had another issue. Tracks with fx on like dblue Glitch and Replicant, when i render them to a new track it just comes out with silence (replicant) or without the effect on (glitch). this didnt happen in 6. :( Message last edited on2/13/2010 5:12:01 PM byTom EQ. |

Use the "Render Audio in Real Time" command in the File menu. Yes, you'll have to wait for it, though... |

@TomEQ: you don't say what audio interface and drivers you use. You have plenty of RAM and a fast hard drive, though. :) Fixing glitches during rendering isn't easy for hardware sound interfaces; I can't tell you because it's been a long time since I've used one, and the one I had was an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 which kept clicking no matter what I set in it. That was back in 2005. :) Anyway, you could try using ASIO4ALL as ASIO driver, instead of using the Primary Sound Driver or whatever. In ACID Pro 7, choose it by opening the Options menu, choose Preferences, and go to the Audio tab. The audio driver option should be topmost. If you have an audio interface not built into the computer, ASIO4ALL might not be the best solution; I recommend it for those (like me) who have laptops and subsist with motherboard audio. But it could help solve some problems, and I would settle for it if I only wanted to convert some soft synth sounds into audio tracks. I hope my advice is helpful... |
