I absolutely love this program and have had no problems with it whatsoever. But today, I needed to recompress a video I made for one of my friends who is a mac user, and I went to use the .mov file format when I selected save as... When I saved the movie, I got an error message: "The plugin to save the requested format failed to initialize. You may not have all the components needed installed properly." In the "save as" window, I can click 'about' and get all the information on the plugin. (Version 1.2, build 200). I re-extracted the .dll file to the correct directory and even re-installed the program. The problem remains. Help? |

all of the other plugins like .wma, .wmv, .rm, .mp3 work flawlessly (thank you Sonic Foundry!). |

I think there is a bug in the new quicktime 5.0. I know there are problems with it in Vegas but I'm not sure about sound forge. sf? |

"The plugin to save the requested format failed to initialize. You may not have all the components needed installed properly." This message will come up if you don't have the Quicktime authoring components installed on the system. I would recommend that you download and (re)install Quicktime from http://www.quicktime.com . During installation, choose the "Recommended" install instead of the default "Minimum" option so that all needed files are copied to your system. Sound Forge does include a QT plug-in that will interface with installed QT components from Apple, but the Forge install doesn't actually include the authoring components (they need to be installed separately, as above). Hope this helps. |
