I have two SSDs in my PC. One is Intel 80GB as system/boot drive and the other one is OCZ 128GB data drive where I keep all my documents and pictures. I also have two 1TB drives for all video files.

Intel is G1 SSD and doesn't have Trim support. OCZ has Trim ("garbage collection") support, but I didn't use it yet.

My personal experience is great. Windows 7 boots in 35 seconds. Applications open instantly. It also helps to have Intel i7 920 CPU that runs at 4Ghz.

I did have 2 SSDs on my system. One was an Intel Generation 1, the other a G2. Even though I run the computer from a huge 1100 watt-hour UPS that always powers the computer from its internal battery - never directly from the power line, I lost my Intel G2 SSD during a recent thunderstorm that had spectacular lightning. It was my boot disk, and I mourn its loss - extremely fast boot, programs open in a flash, etc.

I'm guessing that the intense electromagnetic field produced during a nearby lightning strike destroyed the G2. The G2s have 34 nm traces - only some 10 silicon atoms wide, as I recall. Too delicate. The G1, with its 50 nm traces, survived unscathed.

Intel is sending a replacement (I believe they have a 3-year warranty).

I built my new i7 machine last month with the 80Gig Intel SSD as a boot drive.
It ran pretty quick, but after installing Win7 Ultimate I noticed it took up some 25 Gigs of the drive, so I decided that the 80Gig was not enough for my boot/program drive and switched it to be my working drive for Vegas.
