First off I like to thank Rockitglider for trying to help and SF Technical Support for promptly responding to my e- mail this week. Although they didn't know how to solve my problem, they still continue to search for an answer. To All Users Here At This Forum. Please look for my Username: MattLok for my synapses. There is only one other posting besides this one so it should be easy to find. After extensive testing in our I.T. department at our studio (Stickman Records). I found that 80% of our problems related to RAM and not CPU. We original kept a standard of 128 MB ram for all of our studio computers. Please read the following to see which suites you environment: For SoundBlaster users a minimum of 128 MB should be sufficient to avoid any lag using 2 channels (L-R) using multiple busing up to 4. For those who are using Frontier Design, Echo Audio, Lexicon, MoTu, MidiMan, or a soundcard that uses multiple in and out (8in and 8out) should use a minimum of 384 MB ram using multiple busing up to 8. For those who are using more channels (such as myself at 16in and 16out) we recommend a minimum of 448 MB ram (256MB+128MB+64MB) Also those who rely heavily on Direct X plugin FX and have problems with it crashing the program or lagging on your system such as 4 FX running simutaniously or more, we recommend 256MB Ram for SoundBlaster users and 512MB Ram for all other users. Minimum Processor we recommend is Intel PII 400 or equivalant. Comfortably an Intel PIII 550 @ 133Mhz is well rounded. So my friends the key to this situation is RAM. Despite what your RAM meter reads on the bottom of the program display, it actually needs a hell of lot more buffering. I hope this clears up a lot for most people. P.S. RAM has gone down as well. You can get 256MB for $110.00 Canadian To SF Technical this is based on your Acid 3.0 Pro Demo for Four01 Recordings (a subsidary of Stickman Records) |
