Subject:can zoom h4n be used as an interface?
Date:2/6/2010 7:09:22 PM

i've got a zoom h4n digital recorder that doubles as an interface for recording (comes w/ cubase LE 4 oem). samson support says it works with others programs also can anyone verify that it works with acid music studio 7? also, acid ms 7 works w/ xp, right?

thanks much!

I have a zoom H4 (older model) and yes it works fine. You have to use the Samsom ASIO drivers though. So a bit of mucking around. But, definitely works.

thanks marks!
what do you think about this deal? good or so/ so? it's a nady condenser mic that plugs into usb bundled w/ ams7 for $120.00. do you think this would make things easier than using the h4n or same difference?
thanks for your thoughts!

Hi skrootayp,

Sorry, but I can offer no sensible opinion on the deal, simply because I know nothing about the quality of the Nady devices. AMS, no probs - used it before I upgraded to Acid Pro. (But I wasn't able to find the deal in question via the URL you gave; was there a bit missing?)

The beauty of the Zoom is that it can also be used as a stand-alone field recorder, but if you are never likely to use that functionality then it is possibly a wasted feature.

Anyhow, I would ask around a little more. there are plenty of knowledgeable and helpful people around these parts.

Ciao,

marks
