Subject:Acid 3.0 - Win 2K - Mixtreme - Problems Recording

NOTE: This problem does NOT happen in the beta version of 3.0. Beta expires in a few days, rendering it useless to me. When I RECORD a track, my mouse will hang as busy (hourglass). I can only use the menus. I can not do anything else. This means Acid 3.0 is unusable to me in Windows 2000. Other pieces of software are NOT exhibiting this problem, including Sound Forge 5.0. This problem does not occur in Windows 98SE. I have this problem with both the WDM drivers for my Soundscape Mixtreme card as well as the 'legacy' drivers. My Windows 2000 installation is fresh. My current workaround is to either boot into Windows 98SE, or to continue using Acid 2.0, neither of which is ideal, as I am migrating my studio to a Windows 2000 base. Any help, or if anyone can try to duplicate the problem, would be appreciated. Thank you. |

I have the same issue with same setup- are you using MOTU interface by any chance? I have 2408 with semi buggy beta 3 drivers- ASIO buggy as well- |

No, I'm not using MOTU under this configuration. I'm using a Midiman Midisport 8x8 USB with most recent drivers. The Acid 3.0 readme.doc states: "A driver issue with MIDIMan USB devices may prevent recording." In this case, it does not prevent recording, it prevents usability after succesfully recording. Perhaps I'm experiencing the problem stated in the readme. If so, SF needs to be a tad bit more explicit in their readme. What really pisses me off is that the Beta does not exhibit this problem. If it HAD I wouldn't have made the purchase. If all else fails, and a 3.0b that fixes this issue isn't released in the next few days, I'll just go ahead and use one of the many cracks available for the Beta so I can still use it after 5/15. BTW, are you using a Soundscape Mixtreme card? |
