Subject:Midi Insert & Two Soundboards

I cant find where can i insert a new midi track
Another question is that i cant find a dialog that allows
me assign each track to its specified device to use two
soundboards simultaneously:
Ex: I have Montego 2 and AWE 64
If i want to record something from a virtual instrument
that uses Montego directly on Acid track i can switch the
record switch of Montego to Stereo Mixer Input and do it
But if i cant switch the other tracks to AWE , the soound
that was recorded before come through Stereo Mixer Input
too.
The only way to switch is on Options -Preferences but i
have to restart the program always when i do this to able
the new board.
Doesnt have any board selection on front panel , that seems
to be on Acid 2.0?

Thx for any help

I would like to know this as well. Can different outputs
be assigned to different tracks?

Can I run Acid 3 on my desktop and laptop with one licence?

In order to use multiple audio ports in ACID 3, you must
add an audio bus to the mixer. By default, ACID 3 creates a
single Master bus that is routed to your default audio
device. To use multiple devices do the following:

- Options|Preferences Audio tab.
- Set the Audio device type to "Windows classic Wave
Driver".
- Choose the default device you want the master bus to be
assigned to
- Click OK
- Open the Mixer View (should be opened by default).
- Click the "Instert Bus" icon/label. Bus A will be added.
- Bus A will be routed to the master bus by default.
- Click the Bus A routing icon (Looks like square with in a
sqaure). A menu will pop up that will permit you to route
Bus A to either the master bus or to any hardware bus on
your system.

You can have up to 26 buses in ACID 3.

You may want to review the ACID 3 mixer routing in the help
file. Do a search for Busses in the help. There are a
number of topics relating to this.

Basically, ACID 3 permits you to create a Mixer just like a
real world Mixer - like a Mackie. The tracks are routed to
the mixer and then to the hardware vs the ACID 1/2 model
that routed tracks directly to the hardware. The ACID 3
model is considerably more powerful, but very different
from the ACID 1/2 model.

You can't add a blank track. All tracks in ACID are
associated to a file.

To add a MIDI track to the project, you drag or double
click on the MIDI file from the explored to the main track
view.

You can also record a MIDI track. Click the record button,
and select MIDI. Once you are done recording, a MIDI track
will be created for the new track.

Thx for the help
After studying a bit i had discovered this yesterday.
But when you open a new project , on another day for
example, the bus you have assigned to use the 2 soundboards
must to be assigned again.
Even if you check the option to open all new projects with
this format, projects that were using 1 bus for example ,
when opened again undo your configs for 2 bus.
But these are merely details.
A good idea for a improvement on the future maybe a console
view , like on cakewalk or sonic syndicate orion, and a
possibility to insert an empty midi track and obviously
the DXi/Vsti support.
Very nice indeed
Thx very much again for your attention

Are you saying that it won't remember the output
assignments and bussing upon reopening?

Easy as pie.....See that little number 1 next to the mute
button and the solo button of each track....Im not sure if
it's their with a single sound card, I have alays had 12
outs in my machine since I loaded acid, but if your computer
is configured properly and the cards aren't trying to share
IRQ's or memory ranges (No yellow exclemations in your
windows system propertys). Hit that button 1 in each track
and it should list your available outputs, it may be 1 2 3 4
or you may have to you 1&2 3&4 as pairs. You can also do
the same to your direct effects plug ins. Bus them
somewhere else and with one button you can dry out the track
for editing.

Good Luck
