Subject:batch conversion to MP3 and keep track numbers?
Date:1/22/2010 4:46:23 PM

I'm trying to take a few hundred files that I've ripped from my collection as .wav files and use batch conversion to convert them to 320kbps, but I always lose the track numbers, and they are very important to me. How do I go about this?

Be more specific, 'track numbers" as in CD track numbers? like regions and markers.. or numbers in the file name?
If the numbers are, regions, markers or CD tracks, the MP3 format does not support that medadata... AFAIK.

If you rip with EAC (and other sppecialist CD rippers) you are offerred quite a few options as how to number the tracks. Using CDDB I go for
01_trackname
02_trackname
etc

This keeps them in CD order except when multiple source CDs are going onto one homogenous media folder, where some user intervention is required.
