Subject:ACID crashes with IKM plugins

Hi,
I haven't used ACID since 6.0, just bought the upgrade and so far I love the workflow and features, but I'm having a lot of crashes that seem to be related to a couple IK Multimedia plugins. In particular: Amplitube Ampeg SVX and the TRacks Fairchild Compressor. I'm surmising these plugs are related to the crashes because opening the project post crash ACID posts a dialog that mentions the plugins .

The Fairchild only causes the crash occaisionally. The SVX is a 100% repro - drop it in the project and ACID folds up like cheap lawn furniture.. The crashes leaves the same basic information in the event viewer.

Faulting application name: acid70.exe, version: 7.0.0.712, time stamp: 0x4b468064

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll

Here are my system specs:
Make/Model: Hewlitt Packard e9229y
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Sound Card: Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 USB interface, with latest driver (2.010)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4350, driver version 8.620

As I said before, I'm loving the feature set in ACID, but these crashes are probably deal breakers for me. I'd love some help and or advice.

BTW: I plan to be upgrading my interface soon. Looking at the PreSonus FireStudio Tube right now.

Thanks in advance

Grube,

We gave this a try under Win7/x64 with version 1.1.3 of Ampeg SVX and could not reproduce the crash. It sounds like we are missing something in the crash recipe.

What version of Ampeg SVX are you running?

What audio driver model (ASIO, Mapper, DS?) are you running? What latency settings?

Are you having issues loading projects saved in Acid 6.0 and loaded with 7.0, or with projects saved with any version of Acid and loaded with 7.0?

Thanks,

-Matt

Thanks Matt!

I'm running 1.1.3 ver. of SVX

I have Audio Kontrol 1 selected on the Audio Device Tab of my Preferences dialog, I'm guessing that will use the ASIO driver. The control panel for Audio Kontrol 1 is set to the low latency(Medium CPU usage situation). USB buffersize= 1ms, Audio Buffersize = 4ms, sample rate = 44.1Khz. I track @ 24bit.

I'm not loading any 6.0 projects, everything is created new in 7.0c and 7.0d.

I played around a bit more with this today. I was able to use SVX on a trac --, record and playback w/o a crash. This was a dummy track where I just snapped my finger into a microphone. So, I fired up a track with my bass and SVX. It recorded fine, but crashed at playback. Hard to imagine that this is related to the shape of the waveforms on the track, but you might want to record something fairly dense to get the repro. I also used input 1 for the repro that worked and input 2 for the one that crashed -- hard to imagine that's related too, but strranger things have happened.

I also tried to attach a debugger to ACID so I could get you a .dmp file, but ACID doesn't seem to like having debuggers attached, it went out of memory as soon as I attached.

Thanks
