Just received a PTs rendered .aif (AIFF). While the file opens and plays without issue in SF-10. It will NOT open in SF-6, 8, 9 or any other player or app. I have on my either my Vista or XP PCs. Never had a problem with any other AIF file. This file opens OK on colleagues' Macs, which leads me to believe it's not corrupted
Did Apple or PTs change something to muck things up? Anyone have an explanation or theory.

So maybe the upgrade to SF-10 was not a waste of $ after all.

Addendum: it will open/play in Quicktime

What you may have there is AIFF-C which is a variant of the older AIFF. AIFF-C is used by Apple OS-X and later versions of their OS. Some PC based software can have trouble with this format because of the metadata. You could try to batch convert this to .wav which should strip the metadata.

Cheers!

Try this: instead of clicking on the file to open it, drag it onto the SF window (SF 6, 7 & 8). If I recall correctly, I had some problems in the past with opening some aif files by clicking them but dragging them onto the SF desktop worked.

Thanks CB. I think the file may very well be an AIFF-C (which I had never heard of)

In any case, it's no big deal since I converted it to WAVE in SF-10.
I was just curious as to the cause.
Thanks
