Just upgraded Vegas 9 to Platinum ... and it comes with SoundForge. Not found too much in way of how to use it ... Can I ask how you would use SounForge for basic video workflow. Would I complete standard sound & video edit in VMS, then render to create separate sound & video files. At that point load sound file into SoundForge and do my clean up. My concern is keeping audio timeline & video timeline in sync ? ...... Does anybody have some basic tips ? maybe I'm approaching this wrong. |

As long as you do nothing that affects the clip audio time/length, it should stay perfectly in synch. Otherwise edit away ! geoff |

To expand a bit on Geoff's answer: Know that you cannot disable "snapping" in Sound Forge. All edits are "ripple" edits which makes cutting and pasting rather dicey if you hope to maintain sync to picture. If there are instances in the audio file within your project that are best suited for cut & paste, it's better to do that work in Vegas then render your edited audio file for operations in Sound Forge that won't affect the timeline. Uhh, I use Sound Forge for preprocessing and Vegas for editing. I think that's the simplest way to say it. Message last edited on1/19/2010 10:18:32 PM bymusicvid10. |

I use SF for surgical and other duties in the course of a Vegas project. For easy access to SF in Vegas, right-click the desired event and select "Open in audio editor" .. or .. "Open copy in audio editor". Obviously, "open copy" is non-destructive and creates a new 'take', and leaves the original file intact. One can then toggle the takes back & forth by pressing " T ". |
