Is it possible to remove vocals from a song file (mp3
and/or any other format) with SoundForge?

With the technology available, nothing can do this right now. Som products claim to be able to, but they don't
really accomplish it. You will always have the vocals coming through.

I constantly have calls at my studios to do this. It cant
be done with any hardware/software I am aware of. The best
to hope for is that the vocals are in mono and that by
reversing the phase of one channel, they will tend to
cancel. This doesnt work very well and also puts the stereo
program material out of phase which sounds very odd. It can
reduce the level of mono vocals, but mucks up the overall
recording to the point where most people dont think it's
worth it.
