Subject:Error message while importing .sfz files into Aria

I can load any of the easy samples further down the list, but when I try to use the import function to import .sfz files, I get an error message that says it cannot find the .audio files. In that error message, it lists a path that is the path to the .sfz files in my Garritan folder, and then further in that path is a macro called $A, and then in the path after the $A is a list of all of the .audio files it is looking for, which are not in that folder, but stored on another drive (which is running). The reason I do not store the.audio files in the program folder is just due to sheer size. I think we all have the same problem that we need to use large outboard drives to store our ever-growing sample collections. If the only solution is to move those .audio files into that folder, then I think Garritan needs to re-assess this because we can't just keep loading up our main drives with samples. Or, is there some other explanation? I have reloaded the software (to solve another issue, which it did) but it did not solve this problem. Any help would be appreciated. bg |

I asked a samelike question sometime ago (search for Garritan Aria for ACID Pro) on this forum but haven't heard or found a solution for that error message. Quitte a pity as it leaves you with few other options then finding workarounds or searching for alternatives. rudi |

The samples included in the ARIA for ACID Pro collection are about 2.5 GB total. That's nothing in today's storage terms, especially with hard drives exceeding 1 TB (2 TB!) now. Even the inexpensive USB flash drives far exceed this number. In short: Buy moar space! :D (I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear but it's either that or tell vendors like Garritan to not make high-quality samples.) Iacobus |

Iacobus: there's over 80GB free on my drive so that can not be the problem Perhaps the problem is that the Aria for Acid Pro we got free is a crippled down version of the full works: however even then if software has limitations it's pretty decent to inform customers about it and not keep them swimming around...the fact that neither sony or garritan stept forward to inform or help customers is pretty sad...... |

Thanks for your message - good to know someone is watching this thread and yes i have contacted Garritan: "Sony handles all first level support. They will determine whether it is something with ACID, or Acid's interfacing with ARIA or ARIA itself. If it turns out to be ARIA related SONY will contact us. I recieved a response from Garritan: Hi The $A macro they are referring to is defined in the ARIA for ACID Pro.bank.xml bank: <Define name="$A" value="$sample_dir"/> Which in turn links to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garritan\ARIA for ACID Pro] "sample_dir"="H:\\ARIA_for_ACID_PRO\\Samples" Peter |

Forgive me, Rudi; I misread your post. I should mention that I have my samples for ARIA on a separate drive as well, though I don't have problems selecting a specific set (e.g., "Full Strgs Pizz"). I don't use the "import" function; I select it via the list of installed instruments down on the list. Iacobus |

Iacobus, no problem at all - any thoughts or help is better then none : ) I have asked Garritan if the import function is supposed to work in the version of Aria that came with Acid or if only the full version is able to save presets and do the imports etc. If i hear from them i'll update again Rudi |

Here's that update "You simple save the files in Acid Pro and you can recall them. The preset saving is for the full version and you do not need this feature as it is done within Acid Pro." |
