I've been using some of the loops as fillers for my music. I've been contacted by a few music supervisors recently. I'm also interested in composing entire film scores with entirely Sony's Acid Loops. So my question is ... as long I compose the material, is it legal for me to license these compositions to the commercial market? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and find out that I am in infringement of copyright laws. TIA |

You can't redistribute the original loops. However, any composition you create using them is yours to do with as you please. |

Hmmmm, so the loops are strictly for our own listening pleasure then? For eg, I can't fit an 80 piece orchestra in my studio hence my thoughts on using Sony acid loops to compose themes. Also to the user end agreement we cannot change or alter the loops in any fashion. For eg, the artist series, the 4 titles are supposedly made to blend as one meaning the theme's are already there. How is one supposed to compose any material without following these themes which in reality would NOT be my composition even though i may be playing my own instruments in these tracks as well? Please enlighten me :) Message last edited on1/16/2010 2:48:44 PM by_Gabriel_. |

Ok let me backtrack here for a sec after reading your response again. If I'm understanding you correctly, as long as I compose the material using the loops. Layering drums, bass guitars etc then i am free to license the material out to movie houses, TV etc? I just can't sell or redistribute individual loops? If this is what you are saying it makes perfect sense to me ! Sorry, but I'm pretty new to loops. Been using drum samples and bass for rhythm sections but have never composed entire songs with them. I love the idea of the time it would save me (which I don't have a lot of at the moment) :) |
