This is what has been fixed/added: -Hold Alt while dragging a region tag to move the region while preserving its length. -Temporary files now delete their .sfk files when the file is closed. -Added support for ACID 3.0. -Improved detection of third-party DirectX plug-ins. -Fixed Undo performance problem. -Fixed Resample preview problem. -Fixed silent preview problem when using the DirectX plug- ins -Fixed Remote Record issues. Download it here: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=301 Ted |

Nice job on the update. Everything seems to work as it should. Much faster than the previous version. Thanks. |

WhooHoo! the .sfk files are no longer hangin' around! Ted: if you're in a position to do so, please thank everyone involved on that one!:-) Question - You state that SF will automatically delete the .sfk files for temporary files. What's considered a temp file? Iv'e tried just opening and closing a file, no .sfk, Opening, working on, and using "save as", no .sfk, Opening, working on, and saving, no .sfk. That's just what I was hoping for, but I don't understand what kind of file they will be saved for. Once again, thanks for the quick update!! |

Using this URL: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=301 ... I get a page saying "What's New in Sound Forge 5.0b", but only offering v5.0 build 117 for download!!! I made a screenshot of that page. You can see it here: http://www.timoheil.de/sf5.gif I cannot find 5.0b anywhere on your website. The "Latest Sound Forge Updates" link from within SoundForge leads me to the downloads/updates section, but there's only: "Sound Forge Update 4.0e" and "Sound Forge Update 4.5h". P.S.: I emptied my cache and tried it with three different ISPs. Always the same (negative) result. |

Maybe they found a problem with it, and removed it. It was there last night. I downloaded and installed. Haven't found anything wrong with it yet, but was going to do some real testing of it today. One thing that really bugged me was it didn't retain the way my screen was setup, or any of my preferences. I had to spend 30 min. just going through everything and re-setting up. |

We had to temporarily pull the file to fix the preferences issue that you mention. The update will be back on the site as soon as that problem is taken care of. Brian |

Beep, It was the preferences problem that made us decide to take down the update, improve it and get you another one.... should be ready in a couple of days. Thanks for downloading the update! Glad to hear of your interest in the product. |

The new 5.0b version seems to solve the problem. Thanks to Sonic Foundry for the fast solution, I was amazed. I guess you just have left to implement these improvements to the beta version of Acid 3. |

So, now that you've re-posted the update. Other than the "preferences" thing we know you fixed. Was there anything else fixed? No matter how minor! :-) I just want to make sure that there's no point in downloading it again!:-D |

I just downloaded 5.0b build 162 and it still has a major problem with processing edits. The undo bug appears remedied, but once the progress meter reaches 100 percent the system stalls. It does the same loading a new file. I have compared the edit process times with 4.5 and 5.0 is WAY slower. An edit that took 6 seconds in 4.5 takes 16 in 5.0...this includes the stalled time at the end of the process, but apparently the process time counter is still running while the system is stalled. SF usually seems to have a great product....cant understand how this one got released with such an obvious bug |

You guys still have a major bug in 5.0 ! Though the undo stalling problem appears fixed, the system still stalls once the progress meter reached 100%. An edit that takes 6 seconds in 4.5 takes 16 in 5.0 !!! What is the deal ?? Thanks |

Ted, I just downloaded 5.0b and there still appears to be a problem with editing. Though the undo doesnt stall anymore, when the progess meter reaches 100 percent, the systems stalls. An edit that takes 6 seconds in 4.5 takes 16 in 5.0 !! What gives ?? |

I was unable to reproduce this on my Windows 2000 machine. Assuming that you are using a supported OS (Windows 98SE, 2000, or ME), you would probably want to start by uninstalling and then reinstalling the program, and possibly updating the drivers for your video card. If this does not work, please contact tech support via telephone on the 60 day complimentary support line, or via e-mail. Ted |

The only thing that what fixed was the preferences issue. There is no other reason to download it again. Ted |

Thanks... I am using Win98se....is there some reason for having to update the video drivers ??? I have installed the program several times (original download, update, etc) Update the video driver with what ??? Sorry to be stupid about this, but I wouldnt think going from 4.5 to 5.0 would necessitate such a change Jim |

Does this 5.0b update include "disk-at-once" feature? It would be excellent to have that option in this program updated from "track-at-once". Or is disk-at-once planned for 6.0? thanks |

No, there is no disc at once in the update. I don't think anybody has even started thinking about Sound Forge 6.0 yet, so I couldn't even begin to speculate about the features. Ted |

What I meant was that version 5.0 was just released, so I don't think that anybody wants to dive into version 6.0 right away. Sorry if I was confusing. Ted |
