Subject:Changing the “Default VSTi search folder”

Hello everyone,

I am using ACID Pro version 4 and I am wondering if one can change the “Default VSTi search folder” in the Preferences section?

I would like to change it to “C:\Program Files\Steinberg because the Steinberg folder does not contain any VST plug-ins.

The reason is that I’m having problems with plug-ins when it is located in the “C:\Program Files\VSTplugins\” directory. I do not know which plug-ins is causing the problem.

I do not wish to use VST plug-ins within ACID but ACID just does not respond when I launch it because it automatically searches for plug-ins in the C:\Program Files\VSTplugins\ folder.

Kind regards,
Batucada.

There is no direct way to do this in ACID 4.0.

If you really don't want VSTi support, here is the easiest way:

Locate

X:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\ACID 4.0\MIDI Drivers

where 'X' is your system drive.

In this folder you will find a file:

sfvstisynth.dll

move this to a different folder on your system (or delete if you are sure you really don't want VSTi support)

Start ACID and you will not have VSTi support.

Note: This is an unsupported way of doing things. If you experiance any odd behaviors, then you should restore the vsti support file.

Hi Peter,
It did not work, ACID Pro 4 is still not responding.
I downloaded AP 7 yesterday, works like a charm, too bad I missed the upgrade special...
But on the other hand, perhaps ACID Pro isn’t’ really the right D.A.W. for me.
Regards,
B.
