Original post to this posted on 5-1-01. Part 2 to this is that SOUND FORGE IS USING AN INSANE AMOUNT OF MEMORY. I had 128 Ram and with it not even doing anything, except opening up a 650 MB Wav file (1 Hour Recording), it used it ALL UP and was going into the SWAP FILE! NOW, My computer people added another ton to give this machine 1/4 Gig Ram and now I am going to "try it out" by recording again, to see if it did anything different Still need help figuring out this monster problem Jack |

Jack, In your system settings, are you letting Windows handle your virtual memory, or are there user specified settings being used? If you're using Win9x, check the settings like this (if using, WinNT or 2000, I'm pretty sure the method is similar): 1. Hit the "START" button. 2. Goto "SETTINGS", and click "CONTROL PANEL". 3. When the window pops up, double-click "SYSTEM". 4. "SYSTEM PROPERTIES" will open. Click the "PERFORMANCE" tab. 5. Look to the bottom and click "VIRTUAL MEMORY". 6. Now look at the settings. Is Windows handling the settings? Or have you (or someone else) specified something else? Check that out and write back here. Nick LaMartina |
