Subject:ACID very slow to start up

Hello-
I have ACID Music 2.0d Build 168. Installed it on a 400mhz P2 MMX machine with 128 MB RAM, plenty of
HD space, running Windows 98. The install went peechy, but when I launched ACID I thought my system was
locked up - all it showed was the title page (with registeration & serial # info). Then I remembered I had the
same probem with Sound Forge, in that it was actually starting up, but took like 10 minutes to do so. Also,
while in the program, it would take a very long time for some "instant" setting changes to take effect. Same
thing happens with ACID. I rebooted, uninstalled ACID, rebooted, reinstalled ACID and rebooted again, and it
does the same thing - this huge time lag before it actually is usable. Seems odd that it also happened with
another Sonic Foundry product, and I've never had the same experience with any other software.
Anyone else seen this, and have a fix for it? Please cc: my email:
foetusuber@aol.com
as I don't get into the forums very much.
Any and all help appreciated, as I'd like to not return this software but these lags are draining my patience.
Thanks in advance!

Have you checked what is running in the background on your
machine? (i.e. anti virus, cd-burning software, system
tools) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task on everything
EXCEPT Explorer and Systray. Once you are down to these
two items, try running the software again. Other
suggestions would be to update your Anti-Virus and run a
full system scan. Update your Audio And Video card drivers
from the manufacturer. Defragement your Hard drive. Clean
out your Windows Temp Folder/Recycle Bin.

You could also go into Options/Preferences and de-select
the option that says "Show logo splash screen on startup".
