Acid will allow you to define a 'generic' control surface that can be used for many of the surfaces out there. I used it to give the transport buttons and faders on my Edirol PCR-800 control over the program

It supports Frontier Design Group's Tranzport unit natively.

The best choice of control surface for Acid/Vegas is the Mackie Control Universal, since the external control facilities of Acid/Vegas were designed with it in mind.

If you can't afford a MCU, then the next best thing is a BCF2000 set to work in one of its MCU-emulating modes (the MCU for Sonar mode works best for this). There are whitepapers describing how to set up and use the BCF2000 for Acid and Vegas on this page

There is a section of the AP7 manual specifically dedicated to setting up a BCF 2000 in Mackie emulation mode

It works great and is very easy to do

It supports Frontier Design Group's Tranzport unit natively.

ACID Pro 7.0d also added native support for the PreSonus FaderPort. A nice little device.

Hi,

I plan to purchase a control device for Acid.
I had a look at PreSonus FaderPort manual and I've got some questions about it.

- I see arrow buttons under "Channel select"; does it mean the FaderPort fader can be assigned to any track in Acid, audio tracks, busses, effects and master included, by pressing those buttons ?

- How can I see, in Acid Window, which channel is assigned to FaderPort ?

- Is it possible to make it work with Acid 6 ? Is there a ready-to-use configuration available ? Or can the config be easily done from scratch ?

- How useful is an external device for Acid ?...

All feedbacks are welcome.
Thanks !

The FaderPort allows control of Audio and MIDI Tracks, Sub Busses, Input Busses, Assignable FX Busses, Soft-Synth Busses, and the Master Bus.

- How can I see, in Acid Window, which channel is assigned to FaderPort ?
ACID Pro 7 introduced "External Control Surface Channel Tracking" which tells you which channel(s) on the external device is currently under control of the device. With a device like the FaderPort this is very important as it has no display.

Additiionally, the Fader port will follow the active track/bus in ACID on the surface.

- Is it possible to make it work with Acid 6 ? Is there a ready-to-use configuration available ? Or can the config be easily done from scratch ?

Not really. That is why we provided the FaderPort specific driver with the ACID Pro 7.0d update.

Some have had limited success mapping the Generic Control driver of ACID Pro 6 to the FaderPort, but the functionality is very limited.
