Subject:How do I record from my music keyboard?

I know I'm probably new to this and it may sound stupid to most of you, but I have my Yamaha PSR-500 connected thru my usb port on my PC. Basically I can record the sounds in real-time, but they only play thru the keyboard and not thru the PC. I don't understand how to get the sounds to function on the PC so I can make the track all together.

here's my guess,
If you want to record the sounds built in your PSR500, you need to plug your cable from the PSR500 phones/aux out to the PC's audio input jack or if you have an audio interface, plug it into an audio input on that.BUT, you have to read ACID manual on how to set up tracks to record audio from a PC audio input.

Or, if ACID recognizes your PSR500 as a midi device/controller, then you can play your PSR500 and trigger ACID softsynth provided.Your PSR500 manual should tell you how to use it as a midi controller. And ACID manual tells you how to record and setup midi tracks from midi devices.

Reason i replied to your answer is alot of peoples posts on here no one responds to. I'm sitting in the office, bored as heck, so I figured i'd kill time responding to you.

good luck

From your description, you need to configure the "local control" setting of your PSR-500.

If you look at the PSR-500 Owner's Manual, on page 116, you will see how to do this.

After you do this, then you can use the PSR-500 as a keyboard to trigger soft-synths in ACID. I refer you to the ACID's user guide for how to configure ACID to use soft-synths.
