Subject:VU Meters during record in SF9

The VU Meters are there during recording but there is no indication they are monitoring the sound levels. The Peak Meters are displaying sound levels just fine. The VU Meters do display as expected during replay of the file. What setting have I missed? The scale is set to Traditional VU

Are both the record VU meters and the playback VU meters set to traditional? I'd first try setting the record VU meters to another style (extended or logarithmic) to see if you are getting any signal.

Also, what record method are you using?

The playback is set to standard. I tried all 3 settings for monitoring the recording and they show nothing. I tried viewing only the VUs and still nothing. I suppose it's not terribly important, but I don't feel comfortable when something isn't working correctly, because who knows what else isn't working correctly...

Are you using ASIO to record?

I just looked up ASIO, and the answer is certainly yes. Does this make a difference regarding the VU meters?

I am connecting through a Tascam US-122mkII, so I think the answer is yes.

Unfortunately there's a bug (found in-house as well) with the VU data while recording with ASIO. We hope to address it in a future update, and in the meantime if possible, using a different recording method will allow the VU meters to work.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Yhanks for the explanation, MKMSony. Fortunately I can do without the VU meters, but the Tascam is such an improvement over the onboard sound card that I will continue to use the ASIO. As a programer myself I know that such bugs can lie hidden for a long time until someone hits on the right combination to trigger it.
