I'm an old guy who hasn't done computer based music recording in 20 years (Steinberger Software with an Atari ST 1040). I'm now trying to use Acid Music studio with an Alessis IO2. Whenever the IO2 is plugged into my laptop, I get no audio. Once I unplug it I get audio if I re-open the file (I'm using the sample audio thah comes with the software.) What am I doing wrong?

thanks,
Curt

I will assume that you have connected either headphones or an amp+speakers to the IO2.

Did you install the drivers for the IO2?

You should plug-in the IO2 before your start ACID.
Start ACID
From ACID's Preference | Audio Device page, make sure you select the IO2's ASIO drivers.
Load the ACID demo project, one of your projects, or simply add some media to the time line of a new project.

Playback.

Thanks.

I still can't hear what I recorded until I close and re-open the software and then choose a different soundcard.
