Subject:Really weird track slipping problem in AP7c

Longtime AP user. Lately, when I record an audio clip the clip will often include a very brief, drawn fade out, fade in, randomly placed in the middle the clip and just a few tenths of a second long if that. It's impossible to adjust this fade or cut it out. If I remove that section of track the half the fade jumps to a new section. The weird fade always appears in quiet part of the clip. With the clip fairly minimized the area of the fade almost appears as if a grid line is out of place on that clip. The worst part is, on any such track with this problem, if I adjust the size of the clip the track slips a random amount. It also seems to slip sometimes even if I haven't adjusted the clip. The amount of the slip varies but often exceeds a 1/6th note. This is a huge problem, obviously because I have tracks slipping all over the place and things going slightly out of time. I'm using a Mackie Onyx (have been for years) FW interface and a windows xp laptop. In the past I've had few problems with AP, or AP7 in particular. Only recent changes are increased use of some newer T-Rax plug-ins. Any help much appreciated! n |

Are there any tempo changes in your project? Are you recording in Beatmap or one shot format? This is set in the audio properties page of preferences. Peter |

I've discovered that some of the TRacks plugs do not play well with Acid, especially the vintage compressor (pultec emulation). There are some strange latency things that occur when recording is armed. Removing the TRacks plugs fixed it but it took me 2 days to troubleshoot the problem. |

Thanks very much for your responses. No tempo changes. Recording as Beatmap. Would one-shot be a better bet? I suspect the T-Racks plug-ins are responsible for frequent crashes and hanging of "saves" but could they insert this weird fade in a clip, and cause the clip to shift position? Checked the clip audio in soundforge and did not find anything peculiar. Screen shot of an example of the anomaly here: http://nickjaffe.com/photos-group-26.html The weird fade thingie is appears randomly only in some clips and apparently only once. Cutting it out doesn't seem to help with the problem--which is that in these clips, when you change their size they shift position. Sometimes they shift position on their own too. Thanks again. -Nick Message last edited on12/11/2009 6:24:04 PM byNicnite. |
